I've always been a fan of a good romance novel....always. Since I graduated from Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew in grade school, romance novels have been my go-to relaxation method. I've always had issues falling asleep, so I got in the habit of keeping a book next to my bed and reading until I couldn't hold my eyes open even one more second. I'd slip the book onto my nightstand and fall off to sleep without issue.
I tend to go in spurts. For a long time I read historical romance books, then I'd get stuck on crime novels with a romantic side story. From time to time I'd delve into something fantastical and read about magic, witches and wolves. But no matter what I read, I always come back to a good love story. I love a good twist in the plot that leaves you saying "What the heck just happened?! I didn't see that coming! Oh my God...." and I try to do that when I write, as well.
There's just something about a good book that you can't help but be drawn to. Getting sucked into another time, another life, another day with new people you come to think of as friends...it's pretty fascinating. I highly recommend finding a good book if you're not a reader. Allow yourself that getaway from the daily grind. You deserve it!
I love good books too and I got into them the same way- reading before I fell asleep at night. Thanks for sharing your story. I am looking forward to taking this journey with you!
